Congratulations to Sarah Johnson one of our juniors who came 6th out of 18
in a qualifying competition for the Flo Clement Trophy at South Shields.
This is a new junior county knockout competition which was played for
the first time last year. She plays the next round at home - date to be arranged.
Our best wishes go with her for further success.
The next round of the Clark Cup will be held at Bishop Auckland on Monday 5th May

Following the win last Friday the Team have been rewarded with a home tie against Brancepeth in the 4th round.
Congratulations to the "lads" the lads who beat Crook 4-1 in the "Mail on Sunday" last Friday
Many members who have sponsored Ian Thomson and Graham Milne will be
pleased
to hear that they today arrived safely at Robin Hoods Bay. They completed the
192 miles in 10 days. Well done!

The club's team were beaten in the second round of the Durham County
Foursomes being beaten by Seaton Carew. We beat Birtley in the 1st round
at the 1st extra hole but were well beaten 4 & 3 in the 2nd round

Playing at home tee off 1630 hrs
Team practice night is Wednesday. Any Player with Handicap of 12 or better is welcome
Harry Tuer 93 years of age is emigrating to America to live with his daughter. He will be leaving the Club after
75 years membership. The Club wish him well.

Just in case you wondered who won and ate the huge chocolate Easter Egg. The Egg was won by Sue Spence
Sue kindly donated the Egg to Moorside Children's Home, Middlestone Moor
All fees should have been paid by now (31.03.08).Any entries into competitions for members
who have not paid will be withdrawn until membership has been paid as they cannot enter any competitions
if they have not paid their subs.
For those members that have paid, please could they collect their envelopes from
the foyer to avoid extra expense for the golf club in posting them.

Congratulations to the "lads" the lads who beat South Moor comfortably in the "Mail on Sunday"
Gerry Fitzsimons has left the Club after his move to Sunderland where he will continue his golf
at South Shields. The Club wishes him well and thanks him for his sterling work maintaining
this site in recent years. Allan Roberts has taken over this task we apologise for any difficulties which he hopes will
short-term as he learns the job. There will be some problems with the weekly newsletter
but normal service should resume in April. Gerry will still be advising on the site as necessary.
There have been changes to the Stroke Indexes for both men's and ladies' tees.
For the men the 4th hole is now Stroke Index 13 instead of 7 and for the 6th hole 7 instead of 13.
The ladies Stroke indexes have been totally revised. For the new ladies' Stroke Indexes please see the Ladies' Secretary
or check the score card here.
Members please note that the clubhouse kitchen will be closed on
Monday 31st March for cleaning and will re-open Tuesday 1st April
The Ladies' Section held a successful social evening on 29 February with
quizzes, tombola, bingo and a pie and pea supper.
Doris Cole is the County Captain this year and her chosen
charity is the North East Air Ambulance.
The Ladies' Section held a Bridge Drive on Monday 10 March for this charity
and raised over £230 - a very enjoyable afternoon.
During the winter months the ladies play for a Winter Plate which
consists of stroke and stableford competitions on alternate weeks.
This year's competition has now been completed and the winner is Jacky Wheatley.

Hi Folks...
Just thought I'd give an update, the weather has been really good until....
the locals arranged for me to join them on Monday morning , they play at 5.30 am to beat
the heat of the day. the course is just up the coast from Melbourne cricket ground
where OZ v India were playing on Sunday in a one day match well................
Cricket match rained off Golf Course closed .
NEMO strikes again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They are thinking of sending me to Ayers Rock with a bucket of balls
and a sand wedge, they haven't had rain there since 199?
